People who visit Indian Harbour Beach, Florida are enamored by the view. This lovely town in Brevard County is part of the Titusville–Palm Bay metropolitan area and is located on a barrier island between the sparkling Atlantic Ocean and the calm Indian River Lagoon. The Banana River flows through it and the city is home to eight thousand five hundred people. Indian Harbour Beach was built in the 1960s as housing for the missile workers at Cape Canaveral and Patrick Air Force Base. This safe and peaceful yet vibrant and beautiful city is just two square miles in area and is named for an Indian village that once stood here.
Indian Harbour Beach grew as an ideal residential community on the east coast of central Florida, for the growing space industry and activities at nearby Kennedy Space Center. The community is proud of its low crime rate and reputation as a safe, secure city, with low taxes, quality roads, and city facilities. Many people who came on vacation eventually retired or relocated to Indian Harbour Beach, attracted by its excellent weather and tranquil yet active lifestyle.
Enjoy the many recreational facilities at the beachfront parks or stroll through the popular 27-acre Gleason Park that was developed around a beautiful lake. You will be charmed by its meandering hiking and biking paths that are lighted in the early evening by lovely Victorian-style lamps. Gleason Park also boasts of a year-round heated swimming pool, shuffleboard courts, two playgrounds, horseshoes, beach volleyball, and picnic facilities.

There is plenty to do in this little island city if you love the water. You can go ocean swimming, surfing, boating, deep-sea fishing, or take ocean cruises. Indian Harbour Beach is just a short drive to Titusville and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex as well as the Astronaut Hall of Fame and the Canaveral National Seashore. Enjoy a visit to the nearby Kennedy Space Center, or go shopping, dining, dancing, or to the theater. Golf and tennis are not too far off or you can spend tranquil time with yourself just walking on the pristine beach to watch the spectacular sunrise over the ocean.
There are several community activities for all ages organized by the city ranging from those for toddlers and preschoolers to a Senior Leisure-time Program. The million-dollar Algonquin Sports Complex is home to senior baseball, major Little League, softball, and soccer fields available here for all age groups. Locals and visitors look forward to the annual Art, Crafts, Antiques, and Collectibles Show held each year in mid-November.
There are numerous hotels and resorts to suit all tastes and budgets available in Indian Harbour Beach. The Wellesley Inn Melbourne is a comfortable and reasonable place to stay on the Banana River just off the mainland of Melbourne. Many of the hotels are along the oceanfront in Indian Harbour Beach such as the Oceanique Resort. Condominiums and villas are also available as vacation rentals.
