About The Community
Certainly, the beaches here are less crowded than nearby Cocoa Beach, and even the water seems to be more turquoise than it is at points further north. The coast is lined by low-rise condos except for the beachfront Pelican Beach Park, which attracts family crowds, especially on weekends. The beach is patrolled in the summer, and its shallow waters make it that much safer for children.
Satellite Beach was incorporated in 1957, and today over ten thousand people call it home. The space program, now the new Space Force, and Patrick Air Force Base has contributed greatly to the development of Satellite Beach. It has a wide range of neighborhood developments, including the upscale, exclusive community of Tortoise Island. Outdoor recreation of residents and visitors includes swimming, beachcombing, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, boating, fishing, and sunbathing on the beach.
