Lighthouse Point, Florida
Lighthouse Point is a small town in Broward County nestling among many other communities with no space to expand. Residents enjoy wonderful weather and a leisurely lifestyle in picturesque surroundings. It is named for the century old Hillsboro Lighthouse that stands guard over the Hillsboro Inlet to the east of the city. The Intracoastal Waterway on the east and the Federal Highway, with its shopping centers, restaurants, and other business establishments, to its west, border the city.
About The Community
Approximately eleven thousand five hundred multicultural people have made Lighthouse Point their home. The quiet neighborhoods are attractive with plenty of large trees and mini parks dotting the landscape. The shaded streets wind and twist and there are many cul-de-sacs. Most of the single-family homes front on the City’s 18 miles of waterways. The character of some neighborhoods is changing as old houses are being transformed into larger homes built on their site. There is a move to regulate the appearance of the streetscape and maintain some similarity.
Lighthouse has approximately 20 acres of several beautiful parks and mini-parks, including Dan Witt Park, Nature Park (renamed De Groff Park in 1982), and Lake Placid Park (renamed Frank McDonough Park in 1983). The parks have facilities for sports and activities for the young and senior citizens. The congregation prays at the local churches including the Trinity church, St. Coleman’s Catholic Church and St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. The former Public Works building that stands across from the City Hall was converted to a recreation center.

In 1989, the city acquired about eighty feet of land on Cap’s Island, which is now known as “Al Fletcher Park,” and is used for pram sailing and police boat dockage.
